The building is located in the historic centre of Coimbra, in an area classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The project takes advantage of the intricate relationships between buildings to emphasise the way of life that is believed to be appropriate for that place. The close relationships established between buildings also occur between residents. Fostering this type of relationship between people also seems to be part of the rehabilitation process.
