The Belém Tower, one of Lisbon’s most iconic monuments, has been the subject of several conservation and restoration interventions over the years.
Between 1994 and 1998, restoration work was carried out on the exterior of the tower, with the support of the World Monuments Fund Portugal. More recently, a conservation intervention was developed on the interior, encompassing the restoration of the stonework, the execution of new plasterwork, the recovery of carpentry and joinery, the renovation of metal elements and rainwater drainage systems, as well as the installation of a new lighting system.
