The design idea was based on the desire to create a dwelling that understood the circumstances of its location. The relationship between the tectonic volume and the projected exterior space is precipitated over a water line that blurs into the horizon, establishing a relationship with the sea in its fullness. The building’s geometry has been adapted to the terrain, making the most of the landscape while at the same time providing the privacy necessary for daily living. This dichotomous relationship is intended to be materialised, in part, by wooden planes that filter and allow the spaces to be closed off. The aim was to provide direct contact with the outside world and, at the same time, the possibility of keeping the living spaces private when desired. In the house, all the compartments of the building, whether in the social area or in the bedrooms, establish a visual dynamic with their surroundings through the open and direct outdoor patio on the ground floor.
