O edifício de carácter burguês insere-se numa frente urbana consolidada e acompanha as características morfológicas dos edifícios que compõem a Rua Gomes Freire em Coimbra.

Situado numa das zonas nobres da cidade, pautada pelas grandes moradias da primeira metade do séc. XX, o edifício encontra-se vazio e abandonado contribuindo para a perda do seu carácter nobre e para o seu desmazelo.

A sua reabilitação insere-se nas pretensões de uma empresa que adquiriu o edifício para a implantação dos seus novos escritórios.

A solução de projeto pretende tirar o maior partido da pré-existência, mantendo ao máximo a sua compartimentação e recuperando o máximo de elementos construtivos, tais como pavimentos, portas e rodapés.

Foi proposto um lambril em Valchromat ao longo do acesso vertical, desde a cave até ao sótão, que marca o trajeto entre os diversos pisos e enfatiza a verticalidade do edifício.

Optou-se por manter o desenho original da fachada principal e lateral, aproveitando a configuração das molduras de reboco existentes para introduzir alguma variação de cor. Na fachada tardoz foi criado um elemento coberto, que permite a comunicação entre o interior do edifício e o logradouro.

The bourgeois building is located in a consolidated urban area and follows the morphological characteristics of the buildings that make up Rua Gomes Freire in Coimbra.

Located in one of the city’s noble areas, characterised by the large villas of the first half of the 20th century, the building is empty and abandoned, contributing to the loss of its noble character and its neglect.

Its refurbishment is part of the plans of a company that bought the building to set up its new offices.

The design solution aims to make the most of the pre-existing building, maintaining its compartmentalisation as much as possible and recovering as many constructive elements as possible, such as floors, doors and skirting boards.

A Valchromat wainscot was proposed along the vertical access from the basement to the attic, marking the route between the different floors and emphasising the verticality of the building.

It was decided to maintain the original design of the main and side façades, taking advantage of the configuration of the existing plaster mouldings to introduce some colour variation. A covered element was created on the rear façade to allow communication between the interior of the building and the patio.
