We believe that architectural responses influence individuals, in the sense that space plays an important role in community behaviour. In this sense, it is proposed that the building be designed with a typological, programmatic and morphological organisation that favours the integration of the living space into the social context and local culture, seeking a balance between the necessary autonomy of the building and its relationship with the urban context. The aim of this solution is to create a city in a wider urban context, and for this reason the building is designed not only to resolve the connection between the existing urban front to the east, but above all to provide a new morphological approach of continuity for the still vacant land to the west.

The idea behind the project is to create points of connection with the adjacent plots, trying to overcome the fragmented and discontinuous condition of today’s city. The main objective, and what brought us to the design solution we are presenting, is the articulation of this autonomous piece with the urban fabric, not just thinking about the property boundary, but attenuating the boundaries, losing the difference between public and private space, returning public space to the condition of public space. There is an urgent need for a less specialised design that makes “getting around” compatible with “being there”; there is an urgent need for a space shared by the community.
